Defective Car Models That May Need Tow Services Soon

You never want to have to call for tow services right after you’ve bought a car, but for owners of the following cars, this may become a reality.

According to Consumer Reports’ 2015 reliability survey, certain makes and models cause more trouble than others, whether it’s one recurring problem or a host of little issues that add up over time.

If you own one of these five cars, maybe you’re just as dissatisfied as some of the car owners surveyed.

Fiat 500L

The Fiat 500L — it looks sharp but doesn’t run smoothly. Owners report that because gears wouldn’t engage, the transmission needed reprogramming.

Some reported that the front tie rod broke, the engine had to be replaced and the display screen was nonfunctional or frozen. Failing batteries and rough shifting also plagued owners of this vehicle, making it the most unreliable car out of all makes and models that were assessed.

Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta also gave car owners trouble, making tow services a necessity. From the clutch needing to be adjusted or replaced to the fuel pump failing, owners were dissatisfied with the overall performance of this vehicle.

Cadillac Escalade

A Cadillac made the top five list of unreliable cars? Sadly, yes, and it’s the Cadillac Escalade, the large, popular SUV.

Again, this vehicle had issues that required a transmission replacement. Also, all the extra perks motorists take for granted with a Cadillac — the collision warning, lane departure warning and backup camera — all gave owners problems.

Jeep Cherokee

Some owners needed tow services for a Jeep Cherokee. Apparently not all Jeeps are the model standard of rugged reliability.

The Jeep Cherokee had rough shifting, oil leaks, repeated transmission problems that sometimes led to transmission replacements, engine computer problems and more.

Chevrolet Corvette

Another high-end luxury vehicle made the list — the Chevrolet Corvette. From faulty brakes to a squeaking convertible top, owners had plenty of complaints about this car as well. It just goes to show that the price tag doesn’t always indicate value.

Do you own one of the vehicles on this list? You had better put Stauffer’s Towing’s contact information in your cell phone. You never know when you might need roadside assistance or a speedy tow to your local mechanic.

Even though you’d rather not have to ever call for tow services — that’s why you bought a new car after all — you can’t always foresee faulty manufacturing issues, but you can be prepared if you have Stauffer’s Towing on your side.
